In the concert hall, information typically travels in one direction- from composer, to performer, to audience. Repartee breaks that chain of command, allowing the flow of information to go both ways and blurring the lines between composer, performer, and audience. For this piece, my job as the composer has shifted from preparing a musical idea to facilitating a space for you to express yours. If you wish, you will have the opportunity to fulfill all three roles of the concert experience- composer, performer, and audience.
